- Chapter 50 - Golden Cicada Sheds Its Shell and the Brilliant "Dark Under the Lamplight" Stratagem
Within the bedroom, murderous intent lay hidden everywhere. Su Mingyue’s ghost-like acupuncture point skill truly stunned everyone present. The black-robed man, who had been so arrogant moments ago, now looked on in horror at his motionless companions, like wooden stakes on the ground, and no longer dared to easily advance. As for Old Master Du, who had just torn off his mask of benevolence, his face was so grim it seemed capable of dripping water. He never expected that his carefully trained henchmen would be so utterly vulnerable before this seemingly fragile, harmless young woman!
“Useless! A bunch of useless fools!” Old Master Du looked at his incompetent subordinates, trembling with rage, cursing in a hoarse voice. “So many of you, yet you can’t even take down a twenty-year-old girl! Did this old man raise you to be freeloaders?!” His bloodshot eyes, fueled by anger, stared fixedly at Su Mingyue, filled with venom and… a hint of undisguised greed. This young woman, the more mysterious, the more powerful she was, the more it indicated she harbored a heaven-shattering secret! If he could capture her, and force her to reveal her secret, then he…
Thinking this, Old Master Du’s greed again overshadowed his reason.
“All of you, get out of my way!” Old Master Du roared, pushing aside the cowering black-clad strong men. He decided to act personally! He saw his originally withered and frail body suddenly emit a series of “cracking” sounds of bones snapping! His aura also surged violently with it! A complex and evil demonic qi escaped uncontrollably from his body, swelling his luxurious brocade robe! His fingernails instantly became sharp and pitch-black, and his cloudy eyes were completely replaced by an eerie red glow! At this moment, Old Master Du no longer resembled a “great philanthropist” in the slightest; he was clearly a fiend crawled out of hell!
“Little girl, since you refuse a toast only to drink a forfeit, then don’t blame this old man… for being ruthless!” Old Master Du let out a chilling, sinister chuckle. His figure flickered, and like an arrow from a bow, he lunged at Su Mingyue! His speed was several times faster than that of the previous black-robed man! His pitch-black claws, carrying a force that tore through the air, fiercely clawed at Su Mingyue’s heart!
Su Mingyue’s eyes narrowed. She could feel that this old man, after activating the demonic qi within him, was indeed much stronger than his previous henchmen. But… that was all. This complex power, forcefully elevated by devouring demonic elixirs, was in her eyes, full of flaws and utterly vulnerable. She lightly tapped her foot, her figure moving like a fluttering butterfly, easily dodging Old Master Du’s powerful blow. Then, the two engaged in a fierce entanglement within the not-so-spacious bedroom.
Old Master Du’s attacks were wide and open, filled with savagery and bloodlust. Every move was aimed at a vital point, clearly intending to put Su Mingyue to death. Su Mingyue, however, maintained her composure throughout. Her movements were elusive, like a ghost’s, always managing to avoid Old Master Du’s attacks at the most crucial moments, with minimal effort. She was not in a hurry to counterattack; instead, during her continuous dodging and maneuvering, she carefully observed Old Master Du’s moves and… the increasingly dense demonic qi around him. She needed to find the secret chamber where Gu Mingxuan was imprisoned.
The two entangled for dozens of rounds. Although Old Master Du’s attacks were fierce, he couldn’t even touch Su Mingyue’s clothes. The more he fought, the more startled he became, and the more frustrated! He could feel his demonic qi rapidly depleting, and the pain, like ten thousand ants gnawing at his heart, began to surge again from deep within his body. He knew he couldn’t drag this out any longer! He had to finish this quickly!
“You little b***h! You forced this old man!” Old Master Du let out an angry roar, suddenly leaping backward, creating distance from Su Mingyue. His hands quickly formed a strange seal, and he began to chant incantations. As his chanting began, the black demonic qi around him started to violently churn and condense! The temperature in the entire bedroom seemed to drop several degrees instantly, and the air was filled with a nauseating, rank odor! Clearly, he was preparing to unleash his ultimate move!
However, just as Old Master Du was about to unleash that fatal blow—
Su Mingyue suddenly made a move that surprised everyone. She feigned a move, forcing back the black-robed man who tried to sneak attack from the side, and then… without even looking back, she charged straight towards the bedroom window!
“Bang!”
With a crisp crash, Su Mingyue directly smashed through the window, and like a nimble swallow, leaped into the heavy night outside the window!
“I’m not playing with you anymore!” Only her clear, cold words, tinged with a hint of mockery and disdain, remained in the air.
“Trying to run?! Not so easy!” Old Master Du cried out in fury! He never expected this woman to choose to flee in the middle of a fight! He forcibly interrupted the spell he was casting, a mouthful of bitter blood surged to his throat, but he forcibly swallowed it back down.
“Chase! All of you, chase her! Don’t let her escape!” Old Master Du pointed outside the window, roaring hoarsely at his already bewildered subordinates.
“Yes, Master!”
The black-robed man and the others, as if granted a great pardon, quickly responded. They didn’t even bother with their companions still lying on the ground, having been immobilized by acupuncture points, and rushed out one by one through the broken window. Old Master Du also endured the severe pain and backlash in his body, following closely behind. In his opinion, this woman absolutely could not be let go! She knew too many secrets! And… her miraculous medical skills and strange abilities held a fatal temptation for him!
For a time, the entire Du Mansion fell into chaos. Dozens of dark figures swiftly moved among the pavilions and terraces of the Du Mansion, searching everywhere for Su Mingyue’s tracks. However, what horrified them was that the young woman seemed to have vanished into thin air. No matter how they searched, they couldn’t find a single trace of her! She seemed to have… simply disappeared into the heavy night.
“Useless! A bunch of useless fools!” Old Master Du stood in the center of the courtyard, trembling with rage, continuously cursing his incompetent subordinates. He couldn’t understand how so many people couldn’t even keep one woman from escaping!
Meanwhile, as Old Master Du and his group searched everywhere in the front and middle courtyards of the Du Mansion like headless chickens—
A slender figure, like a ghost, quietly emerged from behind the now empty bedroom. It was Su Mingyue. She looked at the chaotic dark figures in the distance, a faint mocking smile on her lips.
“A bunch of idiots,” she murmured softly. “Don’t they know that the most dangerous place is often… the safest?” Her “escape” just now was merely a strategem of the golden cicada shedding its shell. She had simply exploited their eagerness to pursue, and the moment she leaped out the window, she used her movement technique to quietly circle back to the rear of the bedroom, perfectly avoiding everyone’s sight.
And now, all of Old Master Du’s skilled men had been lured outside. This vast backyard, and… the abandoned study hiding a secret, had become her uninhabited realm for free exploration.
